- Changing the route of administration: Finasteride nanocarrier gel formulation: Finasteride is formulated into a nanocarrier (NTF) gel preparation. The results show that compared with the original FIN gel formulation, the FIN-NTF formulation exhibits an increased and improved FIN penetration amount, and the NTF formulation shows a uniform fluorescence intensity on rat skin, indicating improved delivery through the skin layers. This topical administration method may reduce the systemic side effects of finasteride, thereby reducing its impact on male sexual function. Finasteride – enhanced topical minoxidil: A retrospective evaluation was conducted on male patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). All patients initially received topical minoxidil and oral finasteride treatment for two years. After that, oral finasteride was replaced with finasteride – enhanced topical minoxidil. The results showed that most patients maintained good hair density through the combined treatment of topical minoxidil and finasteride. Some patients who interrupted oral finasteride and resumed treatment with only finasteride – enhanced topical minoxidil also showed good hair density. This method avoids the indefinite use of oral finasteride, thus reducing the adverse effects on sexual function.
2.Methods such as combined traditional Chinese medicine treatment, using alternative drugs, and changing the route of administration can, to a certain extent, promote hair growth while reducing the impact of finasteride on male sexual function.
